About Check-Mate: 50+ Years Building America's Most Trusted Magazines

From our factories in New York and Georgia, we've manufactured over 100 million+ magazines for the U.S. Military, law enforcement, and the world's finest firearms manufacturers. Now we're bringing that same precision directly to you.

We've Been Making Magazines Since Before You Were Born

Check-Mate started in 1972 as a tool and die shop. Two years later, we won our first military contract.

That was 1974. We're still here.

In five decades, we've built more than 100 million+ magazines. We've fulfilled over 400 military contracts. We've earned patents for innovations that made magazines more reliable. And we became the trusted supplier for many of the biggest names in firearms.

We're the largest supplier of M14 magazines to the U.S. Military. We're an Original Equipment Manufacturer for more than 15 firearms brands. When you buy a new 1911 or M1A from a major manufacturer, there's a good chance it came with a Check-Mate magazine in the box - even if our name wasn't on it.

That's actually how it works in manufacturing. We build to exacting specifications for companies that put their names on the products. We're fine with that. Our reputation is built on performance, not logos.

Every magazine we make - whether it carries someone else's brand or ours - meets the exact same standards.

That's not marketing talk. That's how we operate.

Two Factories, One Mission

Built in New York and Georgia

Most manufacturers talk about their factory. Singular. We have two.

Our original facility is in West Babylon, New York - 65,000 square feet of precision manufacturing on Long Island. This is where Check-Mate was born and where we've perfected our craft for over 50 years.

Our second facility is in Thomasville, Georgia. Same equipment. Same standards. Same obsessive attention to detail.

Why two locations? Three reasons.

  • Speed. With factories spanning the East Coast, we ship faster. Northeast orders go from New York. Southern and Western orders ship from Georgia. Your magazines get to you quicker.
  • Capacity. When demand spikes - and it does - we don't slow down. Two facilities mean we can scale production without compromising quality or delivery times.
  • Resilience. If something goes wrong at one location (weather, equipment issues, supply chain disruptions), the other keeps running. Your order doesn't get delayed because of a snowstorm in New York or a hurricane in Georgia.

Both facilities handle everything in-house. Tool and die work. Stamping. Machining. Heat treatment. Assembly. Quality control. We don't farm out critical steps to the lowest bidder overseas.

Everything Check-Mate is made in America, by Americans, in facilities we control completely.

What Makes Our Magazines Different

The Details Matter

Walk into most factories and you'll see people building things. Walk into ours and you'll see craftsmen measuring things.

Tolerances on our magazines are measured in thousandths of an inch. Feed lips are positioned within a hair's width of perfect. Springs are wound to exact specifications. Followers are designed to eliminate tilt and binding.

We hold multiple patents. Our hybrid feed lip design feeds a wider range of ammunition more reliably. Our follower systems reduce malfunctions. These aren't marketing gimmicks. These are real innovations that make magazines work better in the real world.

Our stainless steel magazines are through-hardened. Not just surface treated. The entire body is hardened for strength and longevity. It's more expensive. It's worth it.

We're ISO 9001:2000 certified, which means our quality systems meet international manufacturing standards. Every magazine is inspected at multiple points during production. Not spot-checked. Every single one.

And every Check-Mate magazine comes with a lifetime warranty. If it fails, we replace it. No questions. No hassle.

Who Uses Check-Mate Magazines

In the Field, On the Range, On Duty

The U.S. Military has trusted Check-Mate since 1974. Over 400 government contracts. Millions of magazines in service.

Federal agents carry magazines we built. State and local police departments specify Check-Mate for duty use. When lives depend on reliability, we get the call.

Competitive shooters use our magazines in IDPA and USPSA matches. When a malfunction means losing the match, they choose Check-Mate.

Firearms manufacturers build their guns around our magazine designs. When they need OEM quality, they come to us. (You just don't always see our name on the baseplate.)

And tens of thousands of responsible gun owners - people who demand reliability and won't settle for cheap alternatives - trust Check-Mate magazines in their carry guns, home defense firearms, and competition rigs.

Our reputation isn't built on advertising. It's built on 50 years of magazines that work when they're supposed to.

How We Build Them

Every Magazine, Start to Finish

We start with American steel. It gets stamped in precision dies we built in-house. The stampings go through heat treatment - controlled temperatures that harden the metal to exact specifications.

Then finishing. Stainless gets polished. Carbon steel gets parkerized. Every surface is inspected.

Followers get machined. Springs get wound. Each component is measured against specifications.

Assembly happens by hand. Experienced workers who've been with us for years put each magazine together. Then it gets function tested. Then a final quality check.

Only after all that does a magazine get packaged and shipped.

We don't rush. We don't cut corners. This is how we've done it for 50 years, and it's why our magazines work when others fail.

Family-Owned, Customer-Focused

The People Behind the Products

Check-Mate is family-owned and led by CEO Regina Vieweg and her daughter, VP Jackie Santoro, who represents the third generation committed to American manufacturing excellence.

They lead a team that includes tool and die makers with decades of experience, engineers who design better followers and feed lips, quality inspectors who catch problems before they leave the building, and customer service people who are learning to respond as fast as we manufacture.

We're not a faceless corporation. We're a manufacturing company in New York and Georgia, building magazines the right way, and working hard to earn your business.
